building a brand doesn't really help

you gotta build PBNs and send juice to your website. A keyword (with low competition) like homes for sale in clarksville tn can be ranked #1 with just a few PBNs

investing in the money while you focus on talking to clients is worthwhile though.

strategies are free.. execution is not

alt tags don't do anything... or barely

proven SEO is really building PBNs properly and giving your site juice

SEO is a long term commitment, there must be a continuous link building and lots of quality content.

Yeah SEO definitely takes time and work. Blogging, commenting on great forums like this but not just using your link but actually providing quality content. It is important to offer solutions and advice when doing your own SEO. Experience matters. I would first get your site right with GTMetrix then move on to ensuring your site is mobile friendly using smaller pictures and proper css, sitemap, etc... Then you can start doing SEO which should include relevant and changing content on your site, Blogging and sending links back to your main page. However like everyone says... Takes time :) Happy SEOing :)

EDIT: Oh forgot to mention! Don't forget to start migrating your site to SSL! That is important!

Building a brand and doing SEO is must have, but I also would like to advise you to generate traffic from social networks by announcing, leaving links and other activities that could drive audience from social networks to your website.

content is your friend! When it comes to getting ranked on google for the keywords of the services you provide in the areas you service can be difficult. You must firstly handle the onpage SEO such as headings, keyword density and image optimization with unique articles. After having a good grip on the on page SEO you can then start building out Silo content sites for the services and locations making your content the most relevant to googles search algorithm. We then build high quality links from trusted sources for the keywords we wish to rank. With a link tracking platform to track results you will be to the top of google in no time. or just PM me for help

I've spent unknown hours and thousands of dollars trying to figure this out. What it really comes down to is not trying to out think the algorithm and instead creating relevant, meaningful content. That's the hard part. Finding time to provide interesting, unique content is difficult. And it's not easy being good at doing this. Just focus on yourself and becoming an authority on your area and your segment of the market.

There has been some good comments on this thread with regard to creating useful content and building back links. There has also been a lot of false information spread about SEO. There are MANY things that you can do to increase the search result rankings and quite frankly realtors are some of the most flagrant offenders of on page SEO tactics.

I review anywhere from 10-100 websites a week and see the same things over and over again. I can usually tell if the person did the SEO themselves in about 10 seconds just by looking at the title tag.

Its also usually pretty apparent when a realtor engaged their creative company to do SEO because quite frankly most marketing agencies produce stunning websites that look very visually appealing but are total crap when it comes to search engine rankings. I don't blame them because good SEO isn't something that can be seen when viewing a web page but a pretty layout is and that's what makes most customers happy in the short term.

Creating content on a regular basis is definitely important, but it's only about 60% of what goes into generating strong organic search traffic.

The biggest thing I see missing is a keyword strategy. People create content with no direction and then just stuff keywords like "realtor" that won't get you anywhere.

Take a quick look at this article I wrote recently.

I knew I wanted to write an article about using pay per click advertising to generate leads online so I started with a topic. Then I spent about 45 minutes trying to find a keyword that had decent traffic volume, low competition for the keyword, and made sense to use in the topic of the article. I.E. it could be used naturally in the text and headings.

The keyword I settled on was "pay per click services" If you take a look at the page you can see I use that keyword in the url, in the title tag, in the h1 tag, in multiple h2 tags, as the first words in the article, and several times in the copy. The article still reads completely naturally though so it doesn't look like SEO fodder. I also made sure it was valuable content that teaches people.

I have strong internal links, I have strong external links, the hero image in top also has the keyword in the alt tag of the image. I've also created structured data to show to search engines and included the keyword in the structured data .

My site as a whole also has other contributing factors that will help this page's SEO passively such as page load speed, accelerated mobile pages, organization level structured data, etc.

As you can imagine there is a lot of work that went into writing this article outside of just the words/content.

Content is also like fine wine. It generates more traffic with age. I submitted this article to search engines as soon as I published it but I likely won't get any meaningful traffic on it from search engines for at least 6-months to a year. However once content ages a little bit, it becomes much more trustworthy and ranks higher. I am quite confident that this will be the top ranking content for the search term "pay per click services" in the Jacksonville area in about a years time. I'm not sure how it will perform nationally. That's a bit more difficult to predict.

This Google Custom search may do a better job of searching the forums for some keywords than the old forum search does. The results do not include threads from the Asset Managers Forum however.
