I was wanting to become a real estate agent in GA and was reading on what was needed to start. My question is, will a felony charge that I pleaded no-lo to 20+ years ago affect me getting licensed? I saw somewhere if you have something on your record it has to be 5+ years ago, just wondering if anyone might know before I begin taking the courses.
Thanks!

If by pleading no-lo, you mean nolo contendere, that is a legal term that comes from the Latin phrase for "I do not wish to contend" (often because you have no evidence upon which to build a defense) and it is also referred to as a plea of "no contest".

You should call the Georgia Secretary of State or its Real Estate Commission and see for sure if they will consider, for their purposes) such a plea to still be the equivalent of a Felony Conviction on your criminal record or whether there might be some kind of a time element in Georgia because it occurred 20 years ago . . . . that call should clear the air and allow you to make sure you're not wasting your time in preparing for the Real Estate Exams.
