Has anyone had any experience with door knocking in an urban area where the majority of the housing is condos and/or cooperative apartments (co-ops) rather than houses?

I am considering adding door knocking to my prospecting regiment, but I am wondering how to deal with these buildings. Here in NY, there are a ton of these buildings but not anyone can walk in, and there may be legal or building policy obstacles.

Some buildings have a front desk/doorman. I have seen real estate agents come to my building in the past and after a short conversation with the doorman, they were turned away.

In buildings with no doorman, all I can think of is you could ring the buzzer for individual apartments, but I can't imagine that going to well... let's just say it's a lot easier to be rude and dismissive to someone speaking over an intercom vs standing right at your door in person.

Anyone willing to shed some light on this? I have searched online a bit, but I didn't find any relevant info, aside from a few news articles discussing towns that are considering a ban on any door to door solicitation.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I live in residential area where most are houses. In fact in my entire town I live, there are only a handful of condo buildings by the Lake Ontario, thats all. I personally do not target condos as all of them are gated and you need permission to get in. So somehow sneaking inside the building and start knocking can cause some issue.

Never tried door knocking. Just DM, search engines, PPC, and online stuff.

I imagine door knocking would take nerves of steel. You'd also have to obey no soliciting signs, stay away from condos, hoa's and homeowners with "Beware of Dog" signs!

I feel like this day and age the only time when this tactic will work is if the person knocking tells the owner that she or he call sell the unit for much more money than the owner had in mind and offers to get it done very fast if needed.
