So, I just got another call off of one of my 3D Mail campaigns to expired listings (1st step is a postcard, 2nd step is a sales letter, home seller's guide, and Rubik's cube, and the 3rd step is the trash can with a sales letter). We're meeting with the guy on Friday so hopefully we'll list it! It expired at $550,000. Not too shabby.

So far, I'm at a 6.38% response rate and a 2.12% listing rate. If we get this guy it'll bump up the listing rate. Woot!

Sometimes being different pays off. No other agent in my area is doing 3D Mailings, so we get to reap the rewards.

Do any of you send out 3D mailings? If so, have you had any success? What have you been sending out?

So how much does this cost? I'm sure the shipping has got to cost at least $10 between the 3 mailings.

Gitmonee,

Here are two pictures of the trash can. The trash can is a self-mailer, which means what you see is what shows up in your mailbox. It costs $2.07 for first class postage up to 3 ounces (USPS considers this a package). The trash cans weigh 1.60 ounces with two sheets of paper (for the sales letter). I also use two pieces of tape to hold the top (The top does lock in place, but I don't want it to pop off while going through the shipping process).

Also, I put the bank bag in the picture too. It's a self-mailer, but I have not tested them... yet. So, I don't know how much they'll cost to mail, but I believe in the low-mid 2 dollar range.

If you got one of these in your mailbox would you throw them out or would you open them before any other mail in your pile?... That's what I thought. It's all about being different. ha

It still amazes me what we can put in the mail!

Hi Dizzy,

The total cost for all three steps is $8.35.

The total includes paper, color printing, Trash Can, Rubik's Cube, Envelope, label, and postage (Postage is a little more than half the total... $4.60 total postage... $.46 for postcard, $2.07 for the Rubik's cube in a 9x12 envelope, and $2.07 for the trash can).

I didn't realize it was a miniature trashcan. I thought it was a normal size one. That makes more sense.

I'm not that crazy to send a full sized trash can... or am I... haha!

Now you got me curious as to how much it would cost to send a full sized trash can. smile

you could send a real trash can, the message being- "throw all your other solicitations in here. My services are the only thing you need."

Haha! That would be a good headline!

**UPDATE** I just mailed another trash can today and the postage went up to $2.32 (as of yesterday, January 27, 2014). First class stamps are now $0.49. Ugh!

Pretty creative, just not my thing. I would prefer to knock on their door to discuss listing the property. They get lots of phone calls, mailers, door hangers, but few actually knock on their door. This is certainly gimmicky, but would wind up in the trash at my house.

Tdub, the Rubik's Cube is for the second mailing I mail out with a home seller's guide. Headline is "Is Selling Your House More Puzzling Than You Thought?"

Thanks for the feedback, SMG. I don't know anyone in my area door knocking (I'm sure this is the best way to get listings). A few call and a few send out postcards. That's about it. Most agents in my office sit around waiting for the phone to ring. It's all about taking some kind of action!
