Is it better from an SEO perspective to have a Site hosted with a dedicated IP vs. shared IP?

private IP -- you want to be unique in your optimization process. It's more money however it can secure you for a higher ranking knowing your the only IP setting everything up.

I have been an SEO professional for many years. Dedicated vs Static does not matter in the long run. I have plenty of sites that have pulled in over 4000 monthly users and it didn't cause me a problem.

Specifically, I used shared hosting even.

For an extra buck or two a month I'd go with a dedicated IP.

The theory that you need to have your own c-class is so blown out of proportion in the SEO community. Shared hosting is just fine.

At the end of the day, Google will judge you based upon the quality of your site. The type of IP address the site has doesn't impact site quality.

Server up time and loading speed are far more important concerns.

I have heard it said that Links to virtually hosted domains are treated the same as links to domains on dedicated IP addresses. If this is true then there is no impact on SEO if you have a Site hosted with a dedicated IP or shared IP.

For the most part a shared IP will be just fine. I can only think of two instances where you are going to want a dedicated IP stricly for SEO purposes. The first is if you are sharing an IP with someone who is doing something blackhat then you can get slammed as well. This is not a common occurrence though. The other reason you might want a dedicated IP is if you have a separate website/blog that you are using to give links to your main website. You would want to put this on a seperate IP address so Google can't connect the dots.

It depends on your particular situation, but in most cases a shared IP will be just fine.

I understand that it does not matter in the grand scheme of things. Yes, it may be one of the algorithm parameters, but it is a minor one.

I have been an SEO specialist for more than 1 year. Devoted vs fixed does not issue in the lengthy run. I have a lot of websites that have taken in over 4000 per month customers and it didn't cause me a issue. . . . . .

Google has no problem with shared IPs even if there are other spammy sites on the IP.

See Google's response to this in the video below.

Dedicated servers are always preferable IMO - for many reasons - not least of which is load time.

The discussion is about dedicated IPs and a dedicated IP does not mean you have a dedicated server.
