Earlier this week I placed my license with a local Keller William brokerage office and now find myself on "standby" mode since their new agent training is set to begin next week. In the meantime, I want to start doing anything that can be productive and beneficial as I wait to start my real estate career.

What recommendation(s) can you all provide that I can be doing in the meantime? I've been reading "Success As A Real Estate Agent For Dummies" in the meantime to get some advice and an "inside perspective" as to what I can expect in this field, but would like to do a bit more.

Have you wrote down your sphere of influence and contacted them to let them know you are a real estate agent?
Have you read the Millionaire Real Estate Agent?
21 Things I wish my broker had told me?

At the end of the day you are in business for yourself. There is a ton of usefull information right here, educate yourself, train yourself, waiting for someone else to train you night not get you very far.
Good Luck

I was given a copy of Millionaire Real Estate Agent and have begun to read it. i have also started compiling my list of contacts to start getting referrals from the people I know, or direct business from those individuals. I also have been visiting these forums with more frequency to try to learn a bit more, but I still feel that perhaps there should be a bit more I could be doingg. Perhaps it's just my eagerness and entering with the mindset that I am going to make this a successful venture that makes me feel/think I could be doing a bit more than what I'm currently doing.

Welcome to real estate world! Don't read Millionaire Agent, DEVOUR it!!! Continue making a list of your sphere, and get all their contact info.

Ask your broker who the most successful (and approachable) agents are in your market center. Try to tag along with them for a day. Is an agent in your office hosting a Sunday open house? Ask if you can tag along.

ActiveRain.com is another great resource. Look me up "Doug Rogers, Pineville, LA" and read some of my posts. Welcome to real estate sales, a great opportunity!

FSBO, thanks for the words of encouragement. I'm not going to lie, it's a bit overwhelming trying to do all the "exercises" I'm given and on top of that voluntarily going to training offered by the local realtor board which is awesome. Not only do I have the MREA book, but I also downloaded the audio version from audible.com so I can listen to it as I drive in my car.

I too just passed my boards the first week of March, and began work right away. I do feel like I am training myself though :C No one seems overly (if at all) interested in letting me shadow them or partake in any even they have going on so I have NO IDEA how I'm going to get REAL experience until I get some work myself, which is a little terrifying to be honest. I was told by one worker "it's every man for them self" I am doing my best to get acquainted with the forms and am trying to learn as much as possible. Seems like there isn't much of a training "plan". It usually ends up with me asking a million questions and seeking out the info anywhere I can! I am trying to devise packets for sellers, and buyers, and what to do for a CMA appointment. I am a VERY organized person so I feel like most people don't understand my need to prepare. I signed myself up for some Broker Tours, and generating a letter to every person I've ever met telling them I am in Real Estate, and am looking into contacting some other local real estate agents to connect in other ways. I have no idea where to start, and am clinging to whatever info I can find myself and am wishing there were resources to help people like myself who may not have the support a new agent should have.
