I need to sell a house with a VERY outdated master bath. I'd like to get rid of the moldy blue bathtub and put in a high end shower. Since there is a tub down the hall, do you think it would turn off potential buyers if there was no tub in the master bath?

I think you're on firm ground doing that. Few people still have time for a soaking bath.

The fact that there is still at least one tub in the house is important. I have had sales die because while the Buyers didn't care that there wasn't a tub, the Veterans Administration required that there be at least one tub in any home whose loan they guarantee . . . . I guess to ensure that mothers have a place to bathe newborns. Some Appraisers overlook that . . . . and I think VA is the only Federal Loan program that worries about such matters.

As I understand it, my Mother used to bathe me in the Kitchen Sink . . . . how unsanitary is that ?

I bathed my kids in the kitchen sink and washed the dinner dishes at the same time.

I suppose it's never too soon to teach them about multi-tasking, is it ?

I agree, as long there is at least one tub in the house there should not be an issue. im a huge bath lover and i wouldnt mind making my way to the one down the hall, its not like most people that like baths have a chance to have them everyday anyways.

A home with a high end shower and 1 tub is far easier to sell then a home with 2 tubs one of which being moldy blue.

As long as you keep the one tub you should be good.

Just make sure the tub is on the same level as the bedrooms.

Families don't want to bath the kid and they go all the way upstairs wet to the bedroom to get dressed.

Vermont - Please don't tell me she waited until you were 15 to stop that!

If the home is upscale, I think it matters if there is a tub in the master. If not, I agree that if it's on the same floor, you're good!

I was bathed in the kitchen sink, I bathed my babies in the kitchen sink. Then I let them drain in a collander.

In retrospect, I'm kind of glad that I was born prior to the advent of the garbage disposal.

Otherwise, I'm sure that my Mom would have been periodically tempted to accidentally activate the insinkerator and suck all of her cares away.
