Hello. I am a RE Saleesperson in California registered with the DRE. I am interested in becoming a mortgage broker for a small financing company. It is a little confusing in California as you can get your MLO from the Department of Corporations or an MLO endoresement on your DRE license from the Department of Real Estate. I will be a Real Estate salesperson under my broker and an MLO under the Lending firm. How can I achieve this? I like my Real Estate Broker and don't want to leave her. Can I be sponsored as a Realtor under my broker and as an MLO under the Lending company? Or do I have to find a real estate broker that holds an MLO license?

Sorry, it's a long question but I have searched both the DRE and the DOC site and haven't found the solution. Thank you for taking the time to read and answer.

Go to the NMLS website and pull up their customer service phone number. They are very helpful. Your question is not complicated.
