OK, 2 questions:
1, were they flying North or South, and 2, did they come with stuffed goose poo accessories? I can see those being excellent for throwing at the TV, wayward children, wives, etc...

I don't know if this has already been said or not, but the thing I find more often than not is....

hair weave....on the floors, in the sinks, closets, etc!!

This one's easy- no REO is complete without a doll of some sort. Be it a naked barbie doll missing limbs or a super hero hanging out on the roof ledge. There's always one lurking around. Next BPO you do, make a little game of it. wink

98% of my REO's have at least one mirror.

This isn't the most common item, but it's a first. Animal control removed 184 live cats from one house. That's just the live ones. And no litter box. Can you say "hazmat"?

I'm not a huge cat guy, but that's sad.

Tax bills, foreclosure notices, and overgrown grass. (I'm in Florida).

Was in one last week that had letters from two different county court systems demanding that fines and restitutions be paid immediately. They were dated March 2009

found an abandoned dog today, totally starved but still alive. I was able to find a gallon of water and box of cereal until animal control could get there. When we got inside found growing marijuana plants. so i have to update the P list found in foreclosures.

i always joke that a good REO has at least 3 P's in it

1. Pee
2. Poo
3. Porn
4. Pile of Pennies (why is that?)
5. Pot
6. Puppies (dogs really, but gotta stick with the P)

This was a 6P house, and broke the record of the previous 4 P house.

Really, what is it with the pennies? The other stuff I can understand, even the abandoned animals, as sad as it may be. But I have found coffee cups and ashtrays OVERFLOWING with change, right out in plain view. How on earth did they miss that? Is there some unwritten code that you leave perfectly good money lying around when you lose your house?

I think that the pennies are left behind to make some kind of statement, conscious or unconscious, about being on a level above all this and their not having to worry about the small stuff . . . . like those pennies.

It's a self-image, or pride thing; and they're off to a better life, where they'll have bigger fish to fry . . . . like when people say "Hey, you keep the change !"

It could be a form of self-deception; but I guess it's inter-state now. And I have noticed that the Property Preservation people are not so proud that they will ignore the pennies.

One of my cleaners is making between $30-$40 per week from loose change. Not to mention other stuff that his wife sells on craigslist.
