I have a client who is a police officer who has an active lawsuit filed against him and his department after he conducted a routine traffic stop on a “sovereign citizen” and wrote him a traffic ticket. Individuals subscribing to this ideology are well known to engage in what the F.B.I. has termed “paper terrorism” filing lawsuits, liens on properties and flooding courts with other bogus and frivolous claims. My client is wondering if this is going to hinder his home loan approval process. Has anyone dealt with a similar circumstance and if so where there any documents, letters of explanation, etc. requested by the underwriter to get over this hurdle?

Thank you!
