What must I do to begin a property preservation company in Wisconsin? Do I need insurance, licences, and llc? Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

Here is one good source for information http://www.cubicyard.us/ Most banks and national companies will require that you have E&O insurance. You might consider working for another local vendor first to learn what's involved.

Do you mean E&O or liability insurance? I have found most places around here require liability insurance but never mention E&O.

I know for Safeguard for example, require $1 million GL and E&O coverage. Anybody know how much that would run for a small property preservation company? Is the $1 million GL and E&O pretty typically with most companies? Also, do most of the big guys require you to be a licensed contractor or is it just a plus?

If you use the search feature, you'll find all the answers you need and then some.

This forum's been around quite a while, has a lot of professional members who have tons of experience they've already shared, and just about every question you can think of has already been answered.

In order to find out which AM requires what, check out their individual sites. Not all requirements will be the same. Check with the AM and your state and local ordinances for the rules regarding what you can and can't do.

Also, not all of them will offer you the same money for doing the same work. Some pay weekly, while others pay bi-weekly and monthly. And then, some won't pay at all.

Even if we tell you who we feel is the best to work with, it might not be the same experience for you so use your best judgment in determining who you want to work with. None of us can make that call for you.

Good luck in your new venture.

Linda

AM is short/stands for Asset Manager, whom usually work for or with a Real Estate Disposition Company.
