Without being too specific, I had a call last Fall to do a drive by in a really remote town (like 50 houses) about 75 minutes away. I told the guy $250 and it would have to be on a Monday. After he called around (and checked with his client) he called back. I did it and I got paid.

This is why I miss BPODirect - they regularly paid me $120 for distant drivebys.

Now, I never charge my regular companies more than standard fees for distant orders, but if some random company calls me with an order that obviously no one else wants, I stick it to them. It is not as if they are going to become my biggest client - they will only use you when they are desperate so why not make the most of it?!

And the trick of distant orders is to deal in bulk, and then you rarely make a long trip for just one order.
