Hi everyone,

I am new here and been inthe business for about a year and a half. I have switched companies once and really like the new company that I am with. My question is how do you know when you should look at becoming a manager? My broker ownes 3 different offices and I work in 2 of them. The second one that I work in has no manager. He recently quick without any notice. My manager at the 1st office that I work at, is suggesting that I ask for the management possistion and is willing to talk to the broker on my behalf if this is something that I would like to do. But without having been in the business very long, how do I really know that this is something that I should ever think about doing? I have some great ideas, but there are not a lot of agents at the 2nd office and they only have 1 listing there. Does anyone have any ideas or thoughts on this?

Thank you all in advance for your replies.

Amanda

You need a certain skill set to be an agent/salesperson.

You need almost an entirely different skill set to be a manager.

Have you ever managed people before? Have you managed salespeople? If you have and you like it, I say go for it!

If you haven't, you should really search to see if management is right for you. Some people love it, others hate it.

I once had a sales manager with little real estate experience but a ton of enthusiasm and support skills. I thought she was great. Every office does need someone who is experienced and can offer immediate, distilled advice for every situation an agent might experience. But salespeople also need motivators and people to get their careers on track.
If you feel you would succeed, good luck!
