All, I want to thank everyone on this site, you all give me advice and something to think about. I have a favor to ask, I have just graduated from Tarbell, Realtors quick start program, I use the term graduated loosely, and I am supposed to begin branding myself. Here is the issue, 9 out of ten people who come to me I can come up with a slogan for just by telling me there name, but I can't come up with one for myself! I am stumped! I have always thought my name was borring, but I need something that is easy to remember. So to wrap up, I have been thinking long and hard for about an hour... and I got nothin so I figured I could inlist the aid of agentsonline, if you could brainstorm with me I would appreciate it! My name is Adam Clarke and thats about it, so please HELP!

It's all B.S.!! "Branding" yourself doesn't happen overnight... if ever. If you do something different or have a particular niche, and If you are good at it and promote it, you may become "Branded", but it takes time. Adding a slogan to your name and thinking that will make people remember you is all nonsense.... Unless there is something distinctive about YOU, what you DO, or what you have DONE! But be careful what you ask for. I would hate to be branded as the "First Time Homebuyer Specialist" even though some agents do well with it... but what happens when it's time for them to sell the first home and buy a second home.... "Oh I liked working with Jan but she is a 'First Time Homebuyer Specialist' so let's call Joe - 'The Neighborhood Specialist' " Alan Domb is the Philadelphia "Cond King" http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&rls=HPIA,HPIA:2003-01,HPIA:en&q=allan+domb&spell=1 but I am sure he didn't call himself that. I don't think he uses a slogan but others recognize his "Brand"

Wow, MDHomes2Go... wake up on the wrong side of the bed this morning? While it is true that branding doesn't happen overnight, to suggest it is all BS is a bit of a stretch. Fact of the matter is that few RE agents ever stick with ANY marketing/branding long enough for it to work. That doesn't mean branding doesn't work. I think you make a valid point in being careful not to brand yourself into a niche that you don't really want long-term but you can brand yourself with something 'catchy' to help folks remember your name or at least have the sense that they have 'heard of you before'.
Perception is reality. We stopped marketing in a particular farm area about 4 months ago (due to insufficient turn-over) and had someone come up to us in a restaraunt last week to say hello. He said, where do I know you from? Turns out he knows us from our marketing... he said he gets our materials "every week" - fact is that we only sent them every 3rd week and haven't for 4 months. He thinks he still gets them. He smiled and said... "You guys have the energy to move me?" Branding does work... give it time.
Adam - what about some kind of tie-in with Adam being the first man created or something along those lines? Or, don't play on your 'name' at all.. pick a characteristic or personal interest/hobby you have which will make people feel you are just a regular guy like them that knows more about RE than anyone else. Something that makes them feel like they would 'like you as a person'.?

No No Tim, sometimes the written word just cannot convey the real emotion behind the message. I am sitting here smiling as I type

This Google Custom search may do a better job of searching the forums for some keywords than the old forum search does. The results do not include threads from the Asset Managers Forum however. To search that forum you will need to be actually in the Asset Managers Forum and you will need to use the old forum search below.
