I thought I was all set with a particular broker, but now I am doubting my choice.

The broker I was planning on going with is a national firm and has a great training program, good split, and helps with advertising and marketing costs. However, they have a significantly smaller share of the market which is dominated by two regional firms.

The other two regional firms have better name recognition here, but have worse commission splits, lack thorough training and don't contribute at all to marketing expenses.

What do you think is more important, support from your brokerage or a better name? Thanks for your help! \:\)

As Broker and owner of a RE/MAX office, the exact reasons I chose the organization is Brand Name Recognition, technology, support and training, and the quality of agents that you will attract.

There are many organizations that will offer both a splits as well as desk fees and work with the agents. The brokers main responsibility is to support and help the associates grow to maximize their potential. If they dont do that in the beginning they wont do it at all.

I have worked with big names and little names.

In my experience, the right kind of prospecting is going to work regardless of the name of your office.

If you want to get prospects from floor time, sign calls, etc. Then the folks with the bigger market share are going to be the way to go. The reason is pretty simple, the bigger office has more of their signs out, so more calls are generated.

However, if your going to be doing less office specific prospecting. For instance, walking a farm, shaking hands, going to events and introducing yourself and what you do, then the name of your office is less important.

But be honest with yourself. The prospecting that will get you the greatest rewards are also the ones that nobody seems to want to do.

Good Luck,
R

It has been my experience that those agents that choose a company with the largest market share end up leaving within a year to go to a company that offers better commission splits. They realize that they have generated their own business & it wasn't a result of being associated with company X.

RebelBroker is correct. It doesn't matter what company you are associated with. If give great customer service & can get the job done then people will use you no matter what company you are with.
