How do you go about determining what brokerage has the most market share in your city?

I'm trying to determine who compleates the most transaction in my city, but havn't been able to find a resource that will help me determine this.

If you are a member of the local MLS and the software allows you to export data, export all SOLDS data for the past 12 months into Excel or Access. Sort the resulting data table by the listing office code (and on the second go-round, by selling office code). Analyze the data for number of transactions per that office and also dollar value of transactions.

Your local biz journal may publish the figures. (they do in Phx) If you call your MLS, pay careful attention to how they collect the data. (some rank by individual, team, brokerage, etc.. # of listings, $'s sold, etc.)

Las Vegas for example has a really really "interesting" method..... in my opinion.
