Im located in Northern Indiana, and always been intrested in real estate for a long time, Im a real people person also drive a school bus for 10 years an a 911 dispatcher for 3 here are my questions: I will start RE School Oct 17th, I met with a company Cressy & Everett yesterday, while in RE School for my license what are some things I can do to hit the ground running? What are your opinions of major RE comapnies like cressy, remax, century, prudental, and coldwell, They all are advertising for new agents. my family is worried that I might go broke, I plan on continuing my school bus wich I only work about 3 hrs a day (Im a owner/operator), What are some suggestions for a newbie going to get his license, What should I look out for? Any Marketing Ideas to get going, CE offers free phone/office time each week for leads only company with a tv show on sundays. Commission splits what should I kinda figure for a first year income ( I know it is unlimited its what I put into it) but any rough ideas? Thanks for any advise or suggestions everyone may have Thanks Mark

You should be able to easily pull it off, if you only working 3-hours a day.
It's all in scheduling...
Good luck.

The money you make is up to you, everyone is different. I am doing well my first year, another girl I went to school with made only 2,000.00 all year...so again it's up to you what YOU want to make. Depends what you want from your office, split, low desk fees, freebies, training??? I believe one person can love a co. and another could dislike the same co. This is all about you..that's why you are starting your own business..for YOU! Good luck! Study, Study, Study for your exam..once you get past that..the fun begins! Angie

Mr. Mark,
You're starting at the right step.
Deciding on who your 1st Broker will be is one of the most important choices you will make.
Only you can make that decision right for you.
I would suggest that you put together a sharp presentation of yourself and set up interviews with all of the companies you might consider.
Don't agree to join any of them. Just interview them!
Find out what they have to offer and then compare the pro's and con's of each outfit. Then when it's time, you can make your own decision from first hand knowledge.
Before you go into any of these interviews, however, I would caution you to have a clear understanding of what your own basic goals are.
- Do you want to be the top producer and replace your day job?
- Are you a work-a-holic, or someone more laid back?
- Do you want to work the high end, middle or low end of the market?
- Do you want to 'dress up' or 'be casual?'.
- How will you get your clients?
- Do you have a budget for operations, marketing, training, etc.?
Every company is different, every office is different, every person is different.
Good luck in the discovery process.

This Google Custom search may do a better job of searching the forums for some keywords than the old forum search does. The results do not include threads from the Asset Managers Forum however. To search that forum you will need to be actually in the Asset Managers Forum and you will need to use the old forum search below.
