Your initial password is assigned by the forum software and was emailed to you when you registered.

If you are not receiving your password then it is either in your Junk mail bin or your email host has blocked it. If it is being blocked you may need to use a different email address to receive notices from the board.

There is a link to have your password emailed to you on every page where your password is required to be entered.It can usually be found right above the boxes where you enter your login info. Once you receive your password by email you can edit your profile to change your password.

If you are having trouble logging in remember that both User and Password are case-sensitive. If that is not the problem then you may have inadvertently left a space at the beginning or end (easy to do if you are cut and pasting).

Your computer must also accept cookies from agentsonline.

I went nuts trying to figure out how come I couldn't log on and found it was my cookie settings.

From an e-mail I received that, I think, related to the cookie question:

"So do you choose the delete cookies?"

No. I am very selective about who gets to put cookies on my computer. I've got my Internet Explorer set to reject cookies from all sites, unless I've specifically allowed them.

To do that:

From the menu, I selected Tools, Internet Options, then clicked on the Privacy Tab in the window that came up.

Which gave me this:

I then clicked on Edit at the bottom of the tab.

The next window that came up gave me a place to type in an internet address.

I typed in "agentsonline.net" and selected the "allow button" then clicked on the OK buttons to get it accepted.

From then on I've not had any trouble logging in.

To bad the board doesn't allow picture uploads.

With the new forum software, you now choose your own password when you register. If you lose your password and ask to have it emailed to you, the software would send you a "temporary password" with the idea that you would login and then change the pasword in your profile to one of your own choosing.

When you click on the link to have your password emailed to you there are two fields for you to complete - one is the email address that you are using at the forums and the other is for your "Login Name". If you use your screen name and it is different from your login name - you will get an error message that your email address is not found. Make sure you enter your login name and not your screen name to avoid errors.

To change your password, click on "MyStuff" >"Profile" - and then type in the new password of your choice in the "password" and "verify password" fields and press "Submit" at the bottom of the page. After you have changed your password what appears in the password field after saving (the dots or stars) may appear to be longer than the password you had typed in. You can ignore that. The password you typed in will still work.

If you are a long-time member and are trying to change your password there is an issue that may give you problems. After many of you joined we began making your geographic location at requirement when registering. If you do not have your geographic location in your profile you may be unable to change your password and receive error messages. You need to edit your profile to include your location first. If after doing that you still have trouble, send an email to forumadmin@agentsonline.net outlining the problem and I will fix it for you.

Just by looking at the list of accounts waiting to be verified it is fairly obvious that the most problematic email provider is Yahoo. If you registered using a Yahoo email account make sure you check your Junk Mail as I believe all email from these forums end up in the Junk Mail with Yahoo.
