It'll be nice if I can eliminate that HUGE header that occupies 90% of my screen!

^^ Agree.

If someone here from Admin. could either explain exactly why it is set-up the way that it is (and if, how we can eliminate it in our CP, etc?), or point me to the thread/post (I'm sure this must have been addressed at length before now), that would be fantastic! \:\)
Thanks.

The header section just sort of grew over time. The biggest part of that header is the "Hints" section and that was put up (and added to and font size increased) because of all the people emailing me daily not being able to figure out how to post or reply or find their password etc.

I don't like it anymore than you do but it works - I now get relatively few emails - which is a good thing because I have lots to do as it is \:\)

Thanks for your super prompt reply, Admin!

Perhaps those "Hints" could be Emailed to members at the time of sign-up, and then also placed as reminders / guide in some place (such as at the bottom of the Forum) less intrusive to posting and overall navigation? As an alternative, it could be made into a "Sticky" and before long, even fellow members (not Staff) will point the way / referenced "Sticky" link for Newbies such as myself. ;\)

The trade-off is some work up front in doing something like the above (very humble) suggestions and getting kind of used to not having those HUGE "Hints", etc. In return, in my estimation, you will receive MORE Forum participation and activity (due to the navigation being more User friendly, IMHO).
Has an alternative to the BiG Header ever been experimented with? I only say this because it seems you STILL get some Emails on the matter despite the HUGE Header, and the fact that you don't like it all that much as is yourself, if I'm understanding you correcty.
Can we try something new for 4 - 6 weeks and see what folks have to say? I have a good feeling about this ... \:\)

Just my two sense, and yes ... I realize that six posts here may not immediately bolster my proposition.
Thanks!

We will give it a try.

[rant]It always amazes me that I get emails from people who lost their password when there is a link to have it emailed to them above every single place in the forum where a password is required. A person really has to look to find a link to email the webmaster where the link to have their login info emailed is right in front of their nose![/rant]

Whooo! I feel better now! \:D

Google Custom Forum Search

This Google Custom search may do a better job of searching the forums for some keywords than the old forum search does. The results do not include threads from the Asset Managers Forum however. To search that forum you will need to be actually in the Asset Managers Forum and you will need to use the old forum search below.
