That's a very annoying 'feature' that seems to have been added a short time ago, or at least I only started getting email notifications a short while ago.

I have not changed any of my settings so it is really strange that I only recently started getting them. You'd think you'd be notified about the change....

Regardless, I do not want the feature. Is there a way to tun it off?

The email notification is not a new feature. When you reply to a topic using the "Full Reply" form there are a few options - one of them is to receive email notification to the other replies to the thread. Just make sure that box is not checked (it is "on" by default) and you will not be notified of replies. You can also just use the "Quick Reply" form which has no options and therefore no email notification will take place.

You can also check the topics you have subscribed to from within your profile to see if you are still subscribed to some threads and you and turn those notifications on and off.

I finally figured this one out - when you use the "quote" function, it actually takes you to the full reply form and the e-mail notifications apply. If you use quote you have to uncheck the box, otherwise just using quick reply won't give you those notifications.
