Hello,

I have a question. I like using the Email Notification that this forum offers, but, I get tried of having to go under the full forum to select it every time I post to a new thread. Is there a way that you could edit the board so we can choose if we want that to be always on or off? I hope you understand what I mean \:\)

Thanks!!!!

Hi Shane,

The designers of the forum software have not set up the software to work that way opting instead to allow you to manage all of your notifications separately.(you can do that in your profile).

Hello ;\)

Okay, thanks anyway. I'll just have to pray for it in the next update \:\)

I've seen some forums, that have both of these options in them, maybe they will change this next time around.

Take care & Great site!! ;\)

I have managed to change the source code so that "email notification" is now 'ON' by default when posting a new message to start a new thread and also when using the "Full Reply" form.

The problem is that it is not 'ON' by default when using the "Quick Reply" form. The makers of the software are of the opinion that it is better to have users opt in rather than opt out as "sending email is not a low-load operation. If everyone was subscribed to every topic that they participated in by default, the board would be sending out way too much email, way too often".

The majority of the buyers of the software seem to be in agreement that many would find it annoying to be receiving email for all discussions they are involved in.

What do the users on these forums think?

One solution would be to eliminate the "Quick Reply" feature - that is something I can do. Instead of having the "Quick Reply" box below the threads a user would then need to click on the "Reply" button which would then bring up the "Full Reply" form - and that would have the "email notification" option 'ON' by default.

Please let me know whether you think the "Quick Reply" should be removed or not.

Wow, that's cool! Thanks Admin!! As for the quick reply, I really like that because I only have to use the full reply once (To get the email notification), and then can use the quick reply. I find it much much faster and I like doing it that way. So I vote on keeping it the way that it is right now. ;\)

I approve of the change, it's so much easier to find the topics you find interesting with a link in an e-mail...

Keep it the way it is now. Your changes are great.

Is there a way to shut that off via a preferences request.

I agree, I hate it this way. Now I have an email box filled with messages I don't want from the times I forgot to takje the extra step of unchecking the box.

just use the quick replys at the end of the page, I.E. don't click reply at the bottom, just use the other.
