I understand the purpose of that forum, but the bigger issue is the policy that governs deleting threads.

OCCastles wanted it deleted because he didnt like some of the responses. That is not an acceptable reason.

Its a community by definition, especially once others post, at which point the thread is no longer the sole work of the original poster.

Deleting a thread simply because one member asked is bad form for any forum. Deleting threads should always be a last resort.
