I'm trying to buy a mobile home that has a salvage title on it. I'm told I need to have it inspected. The problem is I can't find anyone who will do that for me. Can someone please tell me what steps I can take to resolve this problem.I thought a Salvage Title meant it is salvagable.
It went through Hurricane Ivan. It is in excellent condition though. Only the insulation underneath got wet and the condinsation warped the floor in a few places. All the insulation was disposed of very quickly.

Here in CA Housing and Community Developement handles mobile home processing registration etc. Look in your governement pages for something similar. Hope this helps.

I'm not sure if this helps but in La. mobile homes are titled like automobiles, they are not real property. A salvage title means it has been "salvaged"; the unit has suffered damages and the insurance company is now selling it for salvage purposes. Usually if it can be saved you have to have it inspected by a motor vehicle officer or in La we have a State Trooper who will make an appointment and come out. Once it is proven that the unit has been rebuilt a "rebuilt" or "reconstructed" title is issued. Most banks will not lend money on these titles.
I want to thank everyone for there input. I found out i need a structural engineer to inspect it and I found one a few minutes ago. So a least the ball is rolling! Again, thanks to all!
This Google Custom search may do a better job of searching the forums for some keywords than the old forum search does. The results do not include threads from the Asset Managers Forum however.
