Framed template site = NO BENEFIT

Mibut, the actual page containing his links is included in Google's index and does have Page Rank - so it may not be a waste of time to trade links with Joel. The page does seem to exceed Google's guidelines of 100 links per page however. It is unclear whether Google stops indexing at 100 links or ignores all the links or does index all the links in situations like this.

But as the links are in the frame google cannot spider (look at source)

Google already has the framed page in it's index and will keep coming back to spider it without trying to go through the frame controller page. Heck, Google is still trying to spider pages of mine that have not existed for years! They don't give up!

Mibut brings up a good point - If anyone has a framed site they should submit the actual framed pages directly to Google and other search engines or provide actual html links in the noframes section of the frame controller page.

Doug you miss the point.
It does not matter if the framed page is submitted.
The spider cannot read what is written inside the frame.
As I said before look at the source.That is what the spider reads.

In this case the spider does not access the page thru the frame controller page - it accesses it directly because it is already in its database.

Put your cursor over the page with the links and right click your mouse - choose "properties" from the menu. The url displayed is the url for the actual page containing the links. If you cut and paste that url into the address bar of your browser it will load the links page unframed. If you check Google's cache you will see that the page, unframed, is in Google's index. Google will keep returning to spider this page directly and not thru the frames.

Yes you are quite right.
But,the page has a pr of zilch.

Links pages with PR0 are still taken into account though - they are not totally worthless especially if you can get your keywords in the anchor text. Not exactly an even trade though if the reciprocating agent's links page has PR3 or 4
