Example the link for http://www.gulfcoasthomes4u.com/ does not link directly but goes through the following http://cartikahosting.com/component/option,com_weblinks/Itemid,77/catid,18/
A spider sees http://cartikahosting.com/component/option,com_weblinks/Itemid,77/catid,18/
not http://www.gulfcoasthomes4u.com/
Simple enough
Therefore the link is of no benefit to http://www.gulfcoasthomes4u.com/ but you get your link.

If you designed that site I'm pretty sure you know exactly what he's talking about.

Nothing personal but we keep a sharp lookout for things that will negatively impact the members sites such as pointing their PR toward sites that do not link directly back.
You can easily correct the situation by changing your linking method from the index page to the links page and provide a direct link if you wish to exchanged evenly with members of this forum.

Actually, no, I wasnt aware of it. I did design this site, but installed a links manager last month cause my directory was just getting too large..

Thanks for bringing this to my attention - however, the true value of this link isnt the actual "google" effect, but rather the traffic it generates..

Ive only had the links directory component up for about a month and as you can see, each link generates btw 10-20 visitors every month (the link manager I installed tracks # of hits, which is one of the reasons I installed it) ...Our site generates around 7,000 - 10,000 uniques per month...

Having said this, I do not want to take away from the "google" effect either - this was not my intention..

Ill fiddle with the module code and correct this...
