BTW - I see you are an SEO guy...as long as I have your attention maybe you can give me your opinion of a question I posed earlier today on a web dev site, if you don't mind:
I have been told that driving thousands of visitors to your site by using pop up exit windows tied into porn sites (because they have lots of traffic) will magically promote your site in the meta engines search results.
I think this is NOT true.
I have also been told by the same SEO 'expert' that automating posts to newsgroups, with embedded URLs is a good idea.
I think this is a REALLY bad idea. Even if you try to disguise that it is SPAM and not an ad, it is impossible to relate to any given thread, unless you have really produced a quality article, specific to the topic. Newsgroups can make or break a good reputation, don't you think?
The website owner who is considering utilizing these ideas has already tried a service that created a bunch of 'optimized' 'advertising' pages *no, of course they aren't doorway pages * and they redirect onmouseover before anyone has a chance to read them, and are linked to from hidden graphics on the main page.
I think if any of these tactics work at all they will ultimately backfire. Any compelling evidence I can produce to help convince this guy not to fall for this stuff? Or am I wrong?
