Anyone doing this or know somebody whom does?

I have heard that raw land for this purpose is very profitable and that lump sum payments and monthly payments provides a fairly steady stream of income with limited expenses.

Nah, I hear the cemetary business is pretty dead. :p

Actually there's quite a bit more to operating a cemetary than just digging a six foot deep hold and collecting a couple of hundred dollars.

Most states require a certain percentage of sales be dedicated to a trust account for perpetual care of the grounds.

Owning and operating a cemetary is more in the line of a business rather than an investment.

Ok. It makes sense to mandate that because if a cemetery went belly up then there is not much else to profit from.

But hey what about a pet cemetery? Do you think the same laws would govern that line? (trust)

That doesn't seem like all that great of an investment to me. I don't see the rate of return being worth while

How many 3 X 6 foot holes do you think you can dig in an acre of land???

Answer: A BIG bunch (1,000 to 1,200 per acre) \:D

Here's a link to an appraisal site dealing with valuing cemetaries.
