I think that success in Google for the future depends on implementing linking patterns that appear more natural than what we have done in the past.

What are your thoughts on how this can be achieved? What would make a linking pattern look natural? How best to implement on a somewhat large scale when working with a number of different websites?

I think RSS is a major piece to this, everything seems to rotate around relative content.

Sort of like "Just in time Service." Static is out Real Time is in. IMHO.

Interesting thought Tim. Using real time feeds could definately be a benefit although as far as fresh content goes - the thinking for many years has been that search engines determine fresh content by the file date and time as well as the change in size of the file. When you use RSS you would not get the change in the file date and time so search engines would not necessarily recognize the fact that the page is being regularly updated.

I can see how it could have some applications for linking though

Doug, I had a brainstorm regarding my previous post here. Would you be interested in reviewing a website idea? I went ahead and spent some money setting up a little test but I would like some other folks to review my Hypothesis. While I am setting up some sample content.

Just to let everyone know what the CURRENT Google algarythym is......it is more about the DESCRIPTION attached to your link rather than the amount of links. I have been getting a tom of RE hits from them from a few test pages I have done. MSN dropped me like a rock because I had a redirect as well, so I split the domains and gave them each their own set of files and that seemed to do the trick.

Will - are you referring to the anchor text (the text in the link itself) or the text that is adjacent to the anchor text?

Unique link content is definately a must. I'v been sandboxed for putting too many links using the same text. Which leads me to believe that they place importance on unique and creative link content.

Also, being mentioned in an article, or in the body of a content rich page seems to hold more weight than being next to 20 other real estate links at the bottom of a page.
