I am interested in what everyone thinks of this web design.

http://www.vermontwebsitedesigns.com/troy/

Also, how much would you pay for the DESIGN - the tabs will have pretty standard content that I've re-written myself, and eventually the site will have a BLOG.

I welcome any and all comments, and don't get easily offended.

Frank and honest comments welcome!!

I like it, I think it would look even better by ligtening it up a bit, increasing the height of the header image and reducing the header text size, etc... but overall it works.

Designs are a dime a dozen Troy. Without functionality it falls into the great big void.

with that being said, I'd add a bit of texture to the background to help delineate and organize.

Can't help but agree with both - I like the overall design/format. I'm not a fan of agent pictures, so I would move the photo, your name and company info to the left "column" - perhaps under the quick search. Then those neat Vermont pictures would have room to grow.

Just an amateur's opinion...

As far as the design:
Needs to be a bit cleaner. Less lines, or lighter or thinner. I would put the feature listings at the bottom rather than at the top and the MLS quick search I would put that on the right rather than on the left. I would go for a gradient background to bring a bit of life into the overall page and I would provably put a drop shadow all around the white area (main page).

As far as pricing:
If it was just design I would have paid around $500 and if it was design and integration then it would have gone up. Also you need to thing of your content pages., how many, who is writing the content and where are you buying the pictures from.

We happen to provide real estate agents and brokers website, the cost for a custom designed IDX integrated website is $948 and $70 for hosting and IDX service (for the agent version). We provide you with an agent office that manage your listings, content, email, contacts, etc. It’s a full Database driven system. It would cost you a fortune to actually get that custom developed for you. I don’t know what you are planning to do but if we can help you in any way, just let us know, we are here to help.

Depends what you want to get out of the site. If you want it to generate leads, you have to put your big offers front and center.... free online evaluations, search mls listings, have new listings emailed to you. Hate to toot my own horn but check out our site to see what i mean...

I have to agree with smaclenn. You site needs ways to generate leads. That is the real goal of a real estate web site. You need to get the view to take an action. This action should be fill out some kind of contact form.

Also I think the site has the same layout and look as a lot of other real estate agent web sites out there. It doesnt really stand out from the other agent sites.

As for its cost I would say if it has the ability to list properties in a nice manner, I would think the site should be worth about $600.

Just my two cents.

This Google Custom search may do a better job of searching the forums for some keywords than the old forum search does. The results do not include threads from the Asset Managers Forum however. To search that forum you will need to be actually in the Asset Managers Forum and you will need to use the old forum search below.
