Hello All,

I have owned a domain name, CapeCodCondos.com, for a few years but have not been able to get it off the ground. I think it could be worth something to a realtor but have no idea what that may be. Anyone have a suggestion?

Thanks in advance.

A few questions first:

What have you "not been able to get it off the ground"?

What do you mean "not been able to get it off the ground"?

Are you no longer an agent in Cape Cod?

I'm not sure how much and agent would be willing to spend, as they could just buy www.capecod-condos.com, and the search phrase "cape cod condos" doesn't get all that much traffic anyway. But being that you've had it a few years, and it is indexed by the search engines, that makes it a little more desirable...

You may want to spend a little time and effort for a few months and get it scoring well in the search engines, then it would be worth MUCH more. (of course then you may not want to sell...)

Thanks for the quick reply. I had intended the site to showcase rental properties on Cape Cod, especially in 1 certain community. I have not been able to get other property owners to be interested in listing with the site.

I thought the domain name would be valuable to a realtor not from a SEO point of view but from a word of mouth perspective. As I see it as a good name for someone in the business of selling condos on the Cape. Seems like an easier name to remember then some others.

It's like many other tangible items, if you haven't invested much to create value, it won't have a lot of value. Remember the busted dot.com days, that's what was happening, people buying virtual space, only to discover no one placed value on the space.

As mentioned, put some work into it and carry it up the ranking ladder. You might then have something.

But to answer your original question... I would think you could sell the domain name for $100. I would pay that if we sold in the area... any more then that and I would just get a variation of it. CondosOnCapeCod.com or something like that.

Now... how do you advertise the domain name is for sale to all the agents in the area? \:\)
