I strongly suggest staying away from these types of services - free or not. Most of these "directories" are nothing more than link farms. True, your SERP's cannot be hurt by who chooses to link to your site (if that was the case you could destroy your competition)but these types of links provide zero value. You can be hurt by who you choose to link to. If the SE's consider the link posted above as a bad neighborhood, it could potentially damage your rankings if you put that link on your site.

The best way to get your site indexed by search engines is to get links from other quality real estate agent sites and quality directories (Joe Ant, Jayde, Go Guides, etc.).

I don't have to link to any sites except for the 4 that they ask you to. the Google page rank for the 4 are 3 6's and 1 7 If the others are incoming links and not outgoing I figured that it would only help. I spend alot of time adding individual links and my link pages only have sites with google page ranks and 90% are real estate related.

There aren't even 300000 search engines! Submitting to these types of things are nothing but an invitation for spam! DON'T DO IT.

And YES, you can get banned for being in a link farm. Google has been quoted as saying that if you gain too many identical links too fast, you very well run the risk of being banned for buying links. And yes, I have several friends that got banned because someone else (a competitor) put them in link farms) It took them a lot of phone calls to Google and tons of emails to get un-banned.

FREE TIP:
Spend your time exchanging links with other websites. Then you don't even need to submit to ANY search engines... they will FIND you!

But if you feel you MUST submit to the search engines, ONLY submit to DMOZ, Google, and Yahoo (MSN will find you if you're in these). They are free and you'll get to 99% of the Internet users.
