About 4 months ago i made a rookie mistake and hired a company to do directory submissions for me. They submited to dmoz (god knows what catagory) when the site was not ready for it. (No unique content, no personal contact info, broken under construction pages and so on)

Well now after a few months of learning seo and building content on my site i believe it is now ready for a dmoz submission. Here is the problems i face:

1) The realtor associated with the site url has changed.
2) I have no idea if they have even reviewd the site yet, so if they get to it now, the description, title and contact info are going to be whack and i could get banned.
3) Ho do i know when to resubmit so i dont get banned for multiple submissions?

The error was mine in hiring the company (VKI - 1000 calms got me listed in about 10 directories - stay away) for the directory submissions. Now how to dig myself out from this hole?

I would wait for 6 months total from the day of initial submission, and then resubmit the site.

DMOZ used to have in their guidelines (and probably still do) that you could feel free to re-submit if your site had not been included within a few weeks - so I think you are safe to try again now. Make sure that you you just use the Realtor's name and company name in the title when you submit - not the location. Otherwise it will be rejected.

You don't really get banned for multiple submissions - rather you get ignored. If the category you are submitting to has an editor, try sending the editor a note explaining that the site has changed (after you resubmit). If the category does not have an editor send the note to the editor of a higher category.

DMOZ has been down for months after the site crashed. Most of their database is gone and they just finally started to take new submissions. Since Google no longer uses DMOZ, for results, the effectiveness of DMOZ is in the toilet. I wouldn't stress getting into DMOZ at this point.

go to snapfiles.com look for adweb website promoter 8 and it will help you (freeware) with dmoz and others. I believe that it is an AOL thing in someway. Anyways i too picked up the backend of my website and Dmoz told me (to short of time) or something like that.

If you get the program above and read it you will rank for free on yahoo msn lycos... google is tough like AOL and Dmoz. If you type Huntington Beach Realtor in a search I come up first or second page www.visitsimonsays I am not bragging rather letting you know a program that with in 60 days of being a novice ranks page 1 or 2 on major engines.

If you know your target audience's homepage you can write your page accordingly. Shhh"big secret" Do it yourself, it is like a video game with a great end.

Is there any evidence that Google no longer uses DMOZ inclusion within its algorithm? Just curious. I've heard both sides of the argument on that one.

Google uses DMOZ for its own http://directory.google.com/ and the listings do benefit you in the search engines, but not as much as they used to in the old days.

Google Custom Forum Search

This Google Custom search may do a better job of searching the forums for some keywords than the old forum search does. The results do not include threads from the Asset Managers Forum however. To search that forum you will need to be actually in the Asset Managers Forum and you will need to use the old forum search below.
