Rich brought up an interesting point in another post about using LinksManager.

When I check the links pages of the people contacting me for links trades and those people use LinksManager - their links pages are very rarely actually included in Google. Their links index page is listed but Google rarely seems to spider beyond that into the actual links pages themselves. I do find the occasional site where the Links pages are in Google's index so there are exceptions to this.

I know in SEO forums the general feeling is that Google ignores links from pages using LinksManager even if they are included in Google - what is your experience with this?

Has anyone done any extensive testing?

Well, I haven't done extensive testing but I have been using Links Manager for several of my clients. I figured we'd have greater success if we hone our partners to other RE sites. That way we wouldn't be deluged with viagra or rolex link requests.

I'm thinking, however that it might make more sense to go back to a manual way of managing this. Yes, it will take me much more time but I'd be assured that even with the FTP upload to our server that we weren't getting any fuzzy code or running any risks.
