I have been interested in RE all of my life, and I took one course last year(kind of a false start)...now I am as motivated and enthusastic as ever. I have done a lot of reading here, and every where else, and have started working on my website. Problem is, I just start my two week class on the 30th...I dont want to jump the gun on my website, but really want to hit the ground running as soon as I get my license. So the question is, when can I launch my site? Can I put up an underconstruction page and work on it now? Any suggestions would be great!

Hosting is not hard to find - just don't use the free stuff as you get what you pay for. Yes, you can arrange your hosting and put up an under construction page.

BUT...

You can't advertise yourself as an agent until you are associated with a broker.

www.RadiRealEstate.com,

I'd recommend checking out www.eRealtorStudio.com it extremely affordable (under $135 a year) and it can be set up in minutes. It is the most user friendly realtor studio out there. Hopefully you find success in it. Always Be Closing

www.RadiRealEstate.com,

I'd start building my link popularity as soon as possible, but you need some kind of presentable site in order to do that.

Just be careful to comply with the law. You can probably have an informational site related to Idaho real estate, but you can't peresent yourself as a real estate agent without having all your ducks in a row.

You are in a small market environment, and that likely means that you can still get good search results with some basic optimization.

Here's a multi-page document that was specifically written for real estate professionals, using real estate examples:

Search Engine Optimization Basics For Real Estate-Related Websites

I hope it helps.

Since you are just starting out...think about your domain name too. There is some value in purchasing an existing old URL from someone who has abandoned their site to purchasing a new one. Just remember to leave the registrar information as the old owner...or else this will effectively make your domain name new again. Check out this link for more info. http://www.jimboykin.com/screw-the-sandbox-buy-and-old-site/

The sooner you start working on the site the better...so when you launch you will already have more content and a head start. Just keep in mind these things take lots and lots of time and don't ever neglect your website as anything less than EXTREMELY important. Keep it updated, keep it progressive. Make sure that after doing all of this work to create the visitors that you also look into methods to capture them. Customers usually go with the first person to contact them...so be that person.

Once you decide to 'go live' you will need a reliable, feature-packed and reasonably priced host. I recommend http://www.site5.com/ to all my customers for their new sites.

Google Custom Forum Search

This Google Custom search may do a better job of searching the forums for some keywords than the old forum search does. The results do not include threads from the Asset Managers Forum however. To search that forum you will need to be actually in the Asset Managers Forum and you will need to use the old forum search below.
