An un-happy client is bad - if you agreed to deliver a result, and didn't - either refund that client or work harder to deliver the result at no added fee.
I, myself have a client whose website hasn't leaped up the ranking for his keyword phrases like I would have liked. Today, I offered him 20 free hours for the chance to make it happen over the next two months.
It's sad, but I see so many vendors of different products spamming my clients and trying to rip them off. One company just contacted a client of mine and guaranteed to get his site in the top ten. Luckily, my client was wise enough to ask me to speak
with the salesperson before committing.
I discovered that this company, for $30 a month would set up my client in a PPC campaign at Overture for several keywords. However, this company gets to choose the keywords and they pick awful ones that nobody would ever search on - thereby fattening their pockets and delivering zero results for my client.
I asked them if they would allow us to choose the keywords, to which he said "that keyword would cost thousands of dollars a month" - well, duh! That's because it's a targeted keyword.
So I asked him if he would guarantee a certain amount of monthly traffic, but of course they refused. The salesperson had the nerve today to call me, "are we ready to sign a contract?"
I don't think so. LOL
