Here is an idea you might not have thought of.. well, actually, more like a way to come up with ideas... If you think outside the box, you can come up with free ways to get other people to promote your website. Think of a real estate related topic that would be of interest to people in your area locally. Often times, people/businesses with websites or even traditional media (newspapers, ect...) are looking for content. HECK, this could even apply to your local talk radio stations. Right now a hot topic is the slow-down in the RE market. If you write an article addressing that topic, you might find you can use that article to get published somewhere for free. If you start popping up as the local RE "expert" in publications or broadcasts, that is more valuable than ANY paid for advertising you could possibly find. You could call your local talk show hosts when they are not on the air, or email them, and offer to come on the program to localize the "Real Estate Bubble." You might be surprised at how receptive some hosts will be. If you have a pre-written article, and you take it by to the local small-town paper publication, you might find they have some extra space in a future issue with your name on it. Most of the time, that will not cost you a dime. This could be used on popular local websites as well. If you do a search on your community, call or email the people who are running the other local websites that you see pop up in a search for your community. Example: You live in Smallville, you look up Smallville on google, and you see a local insurance agent, or a local dog groomer pops up. Just call those people and tell them you have an article you would be glad to let them publish on their website for free. You might be surprised at the response you find. Keep in mind, you can use this same article on many sites/publications. I doubt you will have dozens using your material, but the material would work well in any of them, and you only need to write it once. You can always update and write new articles in the future, which many of those same people would be interested in using again. Make sure you link to your website in the article, and include your email address as well. Just a thought. Let me know what you think... post your article here for the rest of see if you decide to try this idea.. keep in mind, you don't need to be a professional writer, but if you know someone who could help you with the article to make sure it looks as good as possible, that would be excellent.
