Realtors - 3 Reasons You Need To Start A Website Before It's Too Late

You know who you are. You're sitting on the fence. You see that other real estate professionals are rushing to set-up their website. After a lot of thought, you are trying to decide if you should take the next step. However, you are still being nagged by one question - does a website really make sense for your real estate business? If I am talking to you - I believe that this article will be very valuable to you because I am going to help you get off the fence. Together, we are going to look at some smart facts you need to know to make your decision. Let's get started.

#1 - You Gotta Fish Where the Fish Are: Right now, 2 out of 3 homebuyers are using the Internet to research their new home and find a real estate agent. The largest untapped pool of hot leads in history are on the Internet actively searching for a real estate agent to help them with the biggest financial decision of their life. If you do not have a website - you are dead in the water - frankly you are fishing without bait. A 2002 National Association of Realtors study revealed that these Internet Homebuyers spend more money and make their buying decision quicker than non-internet users. Simply, if you want prospects who actively seek you out, have money, and willing to make a quick decision then you need to be online. Next -

#2 - Biggest Bang For Your Buck Traditional forms of real estate advertising, classified listings, homes magazines, television have an expensive Achilles heel. These advertising options while common can get very expensive. They also lack the depth of information, versatility, and personal touch that is needed to court and close hot prospects. True, you can spend thousands on postcards, letters, magnets, and newsletters to achieve top-dog status in your community. But why waste the money when you can spend pennies a day and give your prospects full access to your listings, contact information, and helpful advice? Winning the real estate marketing game isn't about who spends the most money, but who is the smartest at spending their money.

#3 - Advertising that Never Sleeps A website never sleeps, never needs vacation days, and never quits. A website allows you to constantly be available for prospective clients - even when the office is closed. Also, your website can be automated so that it can collect email addresses, email your newsletter, and alert your prospects to new listings without you touching a button. Your website can even host virtual walkthroughs of your properties 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. A website allows you to work smarter not harder - the key to success in any business

What Elite Producers Don't Want You To Know Elite Producers are investing in their websites because they know something you may not. Here it is - they know that setting up a website is simple, cheap (less than $20 a month) and incredibly effective. They know that most territories are wide-open for website marketing simply because many realtors don't even bother to set-up a lead-generation website. They bet on the fact that many agents will fail to take the extra time to learn how to market their websites - even though any realtor can master the fundamentals of Internet marketing within a few hours (check out www.RealtorInternetTips.com for some great resources). Don't be fooled. Start now and set-up your lead generating real estate website - you'll be that much further ahead in becoming an Elite Producer.

Matt,

I'm not sure, but I believe the site you reference may be one of those being shut down due to violation of NAR's trademark Policy.

In other words, it is illegal to use the term Realtor in a domain name unless it is being used for the sale or lease of real estate or other approved uses by NAR.

Yes, I believe agents should have an online marketing plan. It should include a website, but the choice then becomes:

A. Learn everything you can about implementing this yourself

B. Trusting someone else to help you bring your online marketing to life.

If you decide to go with option B, keep doing your research and be very, very hesitant to make a choice before getting lots of information first. Get references, testimonials and get proof that the person/vendor you choose is truly going to give you the benefits you seek and not just take $$$ out of your pocket every month.

Just my $.02
