I'm thinking of using Myers realtor website for a 2nd investor website that I'd like to put up. I already have an Advanced Access website, which is fine for my relocation buyers, but I hate the use of frames. Anyone have information, opinions, or advice about Myer's websites? Here is their webpage.

I had not seen one of their sites since their old Websuite days (when they went broke)- so your post made me curious and I went to their site to try and see a sample of one of their sites. Their sales literature says that their main entry page is not in frames but leaves the impression that the rest of the site is - just like Advanced Access. I wanted to see for myself so I checked out the testimonals page for some of their happy customers and searched Google hoping to find the Realtors who were gushing their praises so I could see one of Myer's sites. I had no luck finding any of the first 4 agents. I did find the 5th agent - he had a Point2Agent site and not a Myers site though. Those first 5 told me all I needed to know - I gave up and never did see one of Myer's sites in action. Judging from my experience I am betting few prospects would ever see a site in action either

Yea...It seems like a lot of talk, but why no functional sample sites? I bet everyone just uses frames and I'd hate to waste time on their product without some sort of free trial period.

I visited their website and signed up for a 15-day trial. The site is ok. It seems slow, but maybe it's just my network. The main issue that I see is that any link that you create is made in a framed window. I'm going to try to just add the necessary wording to have the link open in a new window. I also don't like how slow the weather link is and I'll probably use mortgage101.com as the mortgage center instead of their Myers Mortgage link. Here is the test site, so see what you think.

An excellent test of where Myers is in the line of Web Hosting companies "Specializing" RE sites. Ask someone who went to your latest State Board trade show. Most of the major players were there.
In California, AA / iHouse / A La Mode / Etc all have premium booths with great visibility and promotion. Meyers had a corner table alongthe wall with a banner. And from what I hear it wasn't because they were late in signing up.
There are a lot of new players making a lot of noise. Meyers may have seen their day and it is well known that they struck out quite a few times.

Doug, Just signed on for Myers free trial. Wanted to give them a deeper look / see. It lasted all of about 10 minutes. No frames. A plus. Templates easy to choose from. A plus FEW templates with little difference. negative Few color options. Negative 1) each template is hard coded. "You photo here, company logo here, text here, slideshow here". Leaves absolutely no flexibility for marketing your company. I can show you sample template layouts if you'd like... 2) You can only modify the actual image and text. For those who know html, they give you access to the ![]() 3) Their editor is based on early Word editor. Limited!!! I was into their control panel for all of 15 minutes. 5 minutes to get the feel of it, 5 minutes to use it and 5 minutes trying to figure out if "this is all I can do?" Their salesman never even responded to my email about their control panel. Now I see why AA, et al are moving faster than Myers. Save your money!!! Ugh, I can't believe I am saying this... But you're better off with AA. ************************************************ The above comments required absolutely no special technical knowledge. Anyone having laid out a simple document in word would have felt restricted and disappointed. ************************************************

Yea, I'm going to cancel my free trial. The site is limited. I tried to add a website and it only opens in frames. The text editor is pretty lame too. How can you create nice web pages with only a plain text editor? AA is much better so far....that is sad.

I'll have something for you guys to look over soon that smokes everything out there We won't be making them available to the masses without maintainence & SEO however due to the fact that no matter how great they are, they'll still end up as billboards in the desert if not properly managed.

Your company, VTWS.com , seems to offer the same or very a similar website as Blitz Development . I wonder if you all are resellers of the same product. The templates seem to look nice, but the "articles" sections jumbles the text together. It looks like they are the same articles old Inman News toolbar, which was $500/year. I think Blitz offers them as an option for 100/yr, which is less expensive, but in a different layout that makes them more unreadable. Hopefully, they are going to fix this. The VTWS website doesn't show pricing, plus Blitz does.

Hi Dee, Your right, we use blitz's backend for some of our sites. We obviously have different access and capabilities than are given to the public and blitz's sites, albeit it very spiderable and full featured, will end up as the same billboards in the desert as any other site if the old "build it and they will come" mentality is applied to them. We don't include pricing on the sites we utilize their backend for because we don't offer any sites for people to build themselves. We're not in the business of just selling sites like the big providors, whether their one of our completely custom sites or developed by us using a combination of strategic partners in hopes that 1 out of a thousand will make something out of it. We've found that, only after having a couple unsuccessful websites and spending time and money with no return, are people ready to really consider the amount of work and expense that goes into developing something that will provide a real return on investment over the long haul. Hope that makes sense

If it works, can be updated by myself, is flexible enough to allow for individuality instead of the "1 in a million" feeling most sites have today, I'm definitely game for a look.
I may seem demanding, regarding my web needs, from some of the discussions on here but am one of the best customers to have. Once I'm online, you'll never hear from me unless its a super techie question. No calls every day for the first 3 months trying to figure out how to upload an image or format a table...
And I have looked at Blitz. Like a lot of what they have but need to see a more active demo to see if there is more flexibility.

In all honesty, Myers new RE product seems pretty flexible to me. Like all sites designed for non HTML/Web Savvy folks there are some limitations, but the tech support guys over there seem pretty savvy at working around those limitations or just being plain honest about it when they can't.
The thing I like best about Myers is that they offer marketing classes as part of your package and my sales guy Bob was REALLY helpful in teaching me how to benchmark search engines and being very strait forward about what I could expect from the search engines themselves.
The people at Agent X (a.k.a. Ala Mode) I found to be down right misleading and lacking in business ethics of any kind. Plus you ever try to pull up one of their sites on dial up? I'd shut the browser before I'd wait that long.
I too noticed how Myers has almost no presence at the tradeshows. Ran into Bob (the sales dude) at the Denver tradeshow and he and his partner were tucked back in a corner with hardly any booth to speak of, however, I must say those two guys came across very well and sincere about the product. They even made a fix to my site from the tradeshow (on dial up no less) while I waited.
I've had limited experience with Advanced Access so I can't comment there, but all and all I'd say I'm happy with my site and find it to have enough flexibility for my needs, particularly given the cost.

This Google Custom search may do a better job of searching the forums for some keywords than the old forum search does. The results do not include threads from the Asset Managers Forum however. To search that forum you will need to be actually in the Asset Managers Forum and you will need to use the old forum search below.
