New website feedback.

Hi everyone, I'm in the process of setting up my website and would like some feedback on the overall look and feel. Keep in mind that this is still a work in progress so much of the informational content is still not there. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Sean Butler MySouthShoreHome.com

It has a clean layout, but feels sort of generic and plain. I know this isn't done, but wanted to offer feedback anyway to make sure you're going to make the needed changes.
The community information section seems cool. I like the use of the map. I think more pictures, graphics, and better bullets would help. For instance, your marketing plan section seems pretty bland, but I'm assuming you're going to make this section dynamic. Your main banner seems like it has a matte finish, but maybe that's intentional.
The functionality seems good so far and the pages load really fast.

Thanks for the feeback Dee.
Like I said, the content is almost non-existant. The stuff in there is just a placeholder until I have time to update it.
The top image is supposed to have a matt look to it - although it looked much better before I optimized it download speed. I may take another look at that.
Thanks again. Sean MySouthShoreHome.com

Yea, it's hard to give feedback when we aren't sure what's done and not done. I know it's missing content, but maybe we can give more feedback once the site is closer to completion. Some areas have content and some don't, so I can't be sure what will be completed versus what is finished. It's like tasting a pie before you've included all the ingredients.
If you just want to get feedback on the way it looks, functions, or something specific, let us know. If you just want general feedback, then you're going to get advice on maybe something you already know needs to be fixed.

Nice template. You might want to change the colors and add some different home page text.

Thanks to everyone for the feedback. Sorry I haven't replied in a while - I was away and haven't had a chance to visit the forum.... RealtyPresence - Thanks for pointing that out. I was hosting this off of my other website while designing it and didn't realize that was automatically inserted. Jade465 - Can you tell me what colors you would suggest? I think the colors are pretty good. Sean Butler www.mysouthshorehome.com

I don't think there's much wrong with the colors. You might want to think about darkening the grey text on the white background, the contrast could be a little better.

Kassie - no problem. It looks like we have very different tastes when it comes to web design. However, I do appreciate the feedback. As hard as it might be to hear sometimes, it does cause you to take a step back and look at it from another point of view. So thanks again to everyone that has responded. I've got some time to get into the code a bit so here's more of an indepth review. <!-- real estate south shore, south shore real estate, south shore condo, south shore rental, south shore ma real estate, south shore real estate agent, south shore real estate agency, boston real estate, condo boston, boston property, boston ma real estate, boston real estate agent, boston real estate agency, boston massachusetts real estate, real estate agent in boston, boston real estate listing, south shore real estate listing, hanover real estate, hanover condo, boston south shore condo, south of boston real estate, south shore realty, real estate south shore boston, realtor south shore, south shore realty, condo boston south shore, south shore property, chase team real estate --> This is a pretty pathetic attempt at keyword spam. alt="real estate south shore, south shore real estate, south shore condo, south shore rental, south shore ma real estate, south shore real estate agent, south shore real estate agency, boston real estate, condo boston, boston property, boston ma real estate, boston real estate agent, boston real estate agency, boston massachusetts real estate, real estate agent in boston, boston real estate listing, south shore real estate listing, hanover real estate, hanover condo, boston south shore condo, south of boston real estate, south shore realty, real estate south shore boston, realtor south shore, south shore realty, condo boston south shore, south shore property, chase team real estate" Here is more keyword stuffing, this time in an alt attribute. That sorta thing can get you banned. It looks like you've got that all over the place, that's really not good for your SEO. <A

border=0 name=link08></A></DIV></TD>All of that javascript rollover garbage is REALLY bad for your SEO. That could easily be converted to a simple list and styled via CSS. You've got about a million of these font tags, they're killing your code to content ratio. Use CSS. <IMG height=1 src="images/transparent.gif" width=2> WAY too many transparent spacer gifs, but I guess you need those with all of those tables. I think the site looks fine, a bit templatish, but it doesn't look bad. However you've got a lot of junk code, keyword stuffing and other issues that are going to greatly impact the success of your SEO. Hope that helps!

This Google Custom search may do a better job of searching the forums for some keywords than the old forum search does. The results do not include threads from the Asset Managers Forum however. To search that forum you will need to be actually in the Asset Managers Forum and you will need to use the old forum search below.
