I started to sign up for REO Network. They ask for a reference from an REO company. I used to work with a broker who listed REO's and did BPO's and REO's for him (now I am developing business on my own). I have some reference names I can put down, but the listings were not directly mine(my brokers name was on them) even though I marketed the properties. Does REO Network actually check the reference? They may or may not remember me if they get a phone call for a reference.
Any advice?

I think now they require you to have REO sales experience. You might use your old broker as a reference and explain your experience. Much of what you get from them is just more BPO work.

I have my profile in REO Network and have not had any action for eight months. I am in REO Redbook and have gotten 6 listings in the last four months. It may be due to being on the gulf coast of Florida.
They ask for a lot more information. I always ask how they got my name and the asset managers tell me they found my listing in reoredbook.com. There is also a magazine DS NewsI have not been able to find a copy yet. I finally called and requested a sample copy.

REO network never did check my references.

Good luck

What's the cost of being in the REO Redbook? I've been a DS News subscriber and have been curious.

I know a couple agents in my area who signed up with reoredbook two years ago and didn't sign up this past year because they didn't seen to think it was cost effective. They said they never got one call from it. That's why I didn't sign up last year. Maybe I'll rethink that.

I got a free trial offer for 30 days just over a year ago. During that time I had 9 calls, resulting in two listing. I started off paying the 95 per month fee, this was because I could stop at anytime if I did not feel it was worth it. I just got a letter from hem offering a yearly price of around
1,000, I can not remember the exact price now. I think I am going to pay for the year.
