My name is Elizabeth, but my closest friends typically call me Liz. I'm a 40-year-old paralegal certificate graduate from Northeastern Illinois. (I finished a paralegal certificate in January 2016.) I currently work as an on call Fair Housing Tester with a local legal aid organization and am pursuing an education and eventual career as a licensed relator agent in the state of WI.

I decided to pursue this line of work after I came to the realization that I was never going to find entry-level work as a legal assistant or paralegal. Unfortunately, employers only want experienced individuals so unless you bring a great deal of experience to the table they're simply not going to hire and train you to do the job they hired you to do. I know many frustrated paralegal graduates, most of whom have been looking for entry-level work for the past 3 or more years. I've already wasted 2 years of my life trying to break into a field that doesn't want me and never will. I can't imaging wasting anymore of my time like many other people I've met through the various associations I was a part of.

Prior to going back to college and earning a paralegal certificate, I worked as a receptionist and administrative assistant. While I liked doing that work, I wanted something I could really make a career out of which is why I ended up going back to college to earn the paralegal certificate to begin with.

I really hope real estate works out for me.
