16 months ago we began the process of starting a coworking community. The landlord's broker at the time had never heard of the concept (we are in the burbs) but was very eager to work with us. After a LONG process, we finally opened last June at which time we were told that the landlord's broker was opening a coworking community in a building that he himself owns (in a neighboring community)....

Jump forward 9 months ... we are succeeding and inform them that we would like to expand into an adjacent property he also manages, the same week that he is finally opening his own facility. The space we want has been on the marker with NO interest for 9 months. Now we can't get him to respond quickly like he did before.

I believe there is a conflict of interest here. Not even including the fact that he blatantly ran with our idea (even reusing some of our website verbiage, duplicating our pricing plans, etc.) but now what is his motivation to get us into a larger space so that we can continue to grow, and compete with him?

Since when did competition become unethical? You had a good idea and you were naive to believe no one would copy it.

You need to speak with a copyright law attorney to see if any violations occurred with the website. Not sure if you have any case but, need a lawyer to be sure.
