I'm wondering what everyone's direct mail cost is: printing the mail piece/ flyer/ envelope and postage separate.

Is there any real benefit, and is the extra cost of postage worth it to send out direct mail and marketing materials specifically addressed to each homeowner/recipient versus using the USPS Every door direct mail service that just places your mail piece into each mailbox without the recipient's address printed on the mail piece?

Thank you for sharing your experiences and suggestions!

I can do jumbo postcards EDDM for about .29c each and if you are going large enough to get a permit and drop at a BMEU you can save 2c on postage.

Haven't done a list in a while and it seems like peoples prices went up but last time I was sending I think jumbo postcards using a list for less were about $.55 or $.60 each using own design and no UV.

Of course if you are targeting FSBO's or Expireds EDDM is not going to work.

If you actually want to make the capital investment into the right printers and barcoders and software I think you could send mail to lists using pre-sort standard for between about 17-22c (postage) each depending on how saturated they are in each zip code but that is a serious investment of time and money and probably not worth it unless you are pushing out many thousands of pieces monthly.

I stopped sending expired/fsbo mail for lack of response. I did get some deals off it but it was always low price points. I think many people start mailing at $200 or $300K+ and cut off the low stuff. I would go meet with expireds or fsbo's I called for $300K+ and see their stack of mail and it was incredible.. dozens of pieces.

Go EDDM. Plus, when you mail directly to addresses you then have to put on there... "Or Current Resident." It's best go the cheaper route and not have to worry about names or addresses... just routes.

As for price... we were in the 30 cent range with printing, paper, and postage.

Thank you guys. David when you say 30 cent print+paper+postage, for postage you mean the EDDM delivery fee per piece?

Yes, the postage is the delivery fee per piece. It's like 18.5 cents for postage.

Check out EDDM here: https://www.usps.com/business/every-door-direct-mail.htm
