Hey all! I have been in the business for about 4 years and have experienced quite a bit of success. I have also found I am pretty good at running the business side of real estate. It's always been in the back of my mind that I wanted to open a real estate office, and since I've been with RE/MAX most of my career and am a big fan of the brand, it only makes sense that they would be the franchise I choose. About an hour and a half from where I live is a medium sized town that is pretty dominated by local independent brokers, about 4 of them. Within the last 5 years a KW office opened there and has been doing really well. I'm pretty sure 10-15 years ago they had a RE/MAX office in town, but as of now there isn't one in the entire county, and they have absolutely no market share in this town. The values there are pretty average, but the downtown area is experiencing a revival and lots of good things are happening in this city.

I am looking a few years out to build up a nest egg to potentially open this business, but I'm hoping some folks here can give me some advice from how the process goes. I don't want to jump the gun too early and contact RE/MAX yet as I am a few years out. I guess I'm curious as how their approval process works for franchisees, start up costs, and do they give you "fee reign" to open in whatever location you want? Also, with the RE/MAX model, how do you brokers structure your business to make money and recruit agents in your first few months?

Thanks SO much!
