Hello all. I am new to this forum. I am not sure where to begin or if this is even the right place. I live in Birmingham Al. Some time back I lived in Michigan but moved here due to medical issues. I wont bore you with the specifics but when I was in Michigan I worked for a guy inspecting homes for companies like Safeguard. I would like to start my own company doing these inspections but dont really know where to start. I dont want to do preservation because of my limitations physically. Doing those inspections was the perfect fit for me and I enjoyed it alot. Can anyone help me with where to start like what companies to contact and what type of insurance I would need for it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Living on a fixed income is just not possible these days and I am tired of drowning in bills. Its not easy finding something that pays well enough to survive when you have the condition I have and the construction field was all you knew. Thank you in advance.

If you "don't want to do preservation", are you Licensed in Alabama . . . . or were you a Licensee in Michigan ?

Maybe you have to contact SafeGuard to see if they have their own "Inspector" in your area; someone who goes out and writes up the initial Work Order (estimate) for the Trash Out, Re-Key and Repairs, et cetera.
