I currently have a HP all in one printer but when I scan documents they are large files and if I try to scan at a lower DPI the scanned file isn't a clean looking document.

Does anyone have any suggestions on document scanners?

When I need to submit an offer sometimes I dont have the time to get to the office so I am looking for a solution to scan documents at home.

I have a $40 Canon all-in-one I bought from WallyWorld couple years ago and it scans quickly and converts to pdf easily. Its cheaper to buy a brand new $40 printer than spend $49 on 2 bottles of new ink for it, too

Check out canon canoscan, works very well. Some features are a little confusing, but scanning and copying are super easy and pretty fast. Good quality scan

If you have an iPhone check out an app called Genius Scan. I believe it's free - can't remember, it may have been a dollar or two. It's super easy to use, quick, and it produces quality scans with your phone's camera. And no it does not look like you just took a picture of it. The app adjusts the color and the skew to make it look like a legit scanner did the work. Oh, and it's super portable!

This is bit of a different question but I am seeking help with my office scanner, not my home scanner. I have a Ricoh MP c3003 office machine. One of the most popular functions is the scanner, whereby we set up 'scan to email'. Preset email addresses are loaded and selected as needed when making a scan. We can even scan to file on office computers.

This is where it gets technical. The machine is set to run the scans as pdf files through an email that runs through our office email provider's server. Currently our office email is through the local cable internet company.

One last point before I describe our problem....We are trying to upgrade from an OLD computer to a new one. On the old computer we access email through Outlook Express. This program is no longer supported, and has become Outlook. On the new system we access our email through the cable company website without using Outlook.

We have moved 95% of all systems over to the new computer, but whenever we shut down the old computer, or even close Outlook Express on the old unit, the scan to email function stops working.

Even if I have my email open on the new system, I cannot get the scans to flow through. I want to get rid of this old computer and be done with it. I want to be able to turn off the computer if I need to and still maintain the scan to email function.

This is a critical office function. Can anyone think of what is going on?

One idea I had was to switch to a gmail address and program the office scanner with that server email address instead of the of the cable internet server email address.

I have had my cable provider on site. They point to the Ricoh support. Ricoh support is fantastic, but he swears it is an email provider issue.

I am frustrated with this. I want to gain control, but I do not know who to call. I want answers and direction to knowledge.

Thanks in advance.

Another technique could be to scan it 300dpi and share it with a service like Dropbox. If you save your documents on your computer file that is synced with Dropbox you can share any file size just by right clicking and selecting "share with link". You then copy that link into your email and send. Very easy and you will be using clear scanned documents. We use this method all the time when we send large files to print shops and factories. Our art files can be 500mb - 2gb.

Fuji Scansnap is probably the best option for most offices. If you pay attention you will find these workhorses in Dr. Office, legal offices and anywhere they are serious about paperless office systems. Got mine from ebay cheap and works great.

Quick and easy situations call for the Scanning app from Evernote. This is perfect, you don't need an evernote paid account and works really well. available for iphone and android.
