From my limited experience, it seems letters are cheaper and might be more effective than glossy postcards.

I have received innocent looking envelopes addressed to me directly (not "Mr. Gitmonee or current resident"), and every time, I would say "eh? what is this?" and open them and read at least the first paragraph before realizing it was a real estate solicitation.

Postcards, more often than not, I would junk.

Only one agent has ever sent sealed envelope marketing to me. Everyone else uses glossy postcards.
I don't feel I would more likely do business with the glossy postcard people.

Anyone here do both types of marketing, or have their own anecdotes?

When I do my door knocking, the day before I will drop a sealed envelope with nothing on the front, so people will open it out of curiosity.

The letter will have a BOLD heading stating:

[b]Do you know what your home is worth this financial year[/b]

From my own offline initiatives, I will tell you that the more UNIQUE the leave behind is, the more traction it will have.

Be creative.

Leave a small chalk board if you know they have kids.

Just my two cents.
