I was wondering if any of you are doing so much work for a company that you would be asked to become an employee instead of an independent contractor?

I handle about 100 bpos per month but another broker in my area handles almost 400 bpo's per month! I spoke with her recently and she told me that one of the bpo companies she does work for has told her that some appraisers have become employees of the company instead of independent contractors. She believes the rep. was hinting to her that she may want to become an employee with the company but this would probably cause her to lose income and may restrict her ability to work for other bpo companies. There are certain benefits the bpo company would have to offer employess; however, this can be a cost saving measure for bpo companies if they have some agents handling high volumes for them.

My guess would be that it would be more beneficial to stay independant contractor because of better tax writeoffs than a W2 job.
