Fran has a similiar face to my dog. I was told my dog is a Hound/Shep mix. I can see it now. Do you foster for the Humane Society? Cute dogs, Clyde looks like a bear!

No, I don't foster - these are all our very own rescued hounds, lol. Depending on how Clyde stands, he either looks like a black bear, or a black wolf. smile

Miss Indy is not out of the woods yet. I was afraid we were gonna lose her last night - she's not eating much. She seems better today. I am taking her back to the vet tomorrow to weigh her & see what more we can try to feed her. She's such a sweet & loving hound. I'm really hoping she can recover from all the neglect. (I'm willing to feed her absolutely anything at this point, if she'll just eat it!)

Well, Miss Indy didn't make it. frown The bottom line is she was suffering kidney failure & there was no recovering from that. We made the rational decision to let her go. I'm pretty torn up this afternoon, but really glad we were able to give her a name and a good, loving home, surrounded by puppy buddies who treated her well. The Rainbow Bridge lady is cremating her for us.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss. It can be very difficult. Dogs can be super friends, better than human family even, unconditional love. You'll meet up again someday.

Thanks, Newton. Not only have we grieved her loss, but so have the puptots. They're finally calming back down but for a few days, Ge'dogg & Houston did not want to come to bed at night, tore up everything in the house that they could get into, and kept looking for her.

edited to add: we decided we liked her so much that we've looked all over for another young female Treeing Walker Coonhound. We've applied to adopt a 2-yr old in southern IN and are waiting to hear if we get approved or not. smile

Been a tough month around our house for dogs. We had to put our old dog, Clyde, down this morning. He was 15 yrs. 9 months. I'd had him since he was 3 months old. Talk about sad! Here's his picture from last summer, when he was still in relatively good health and acting like a "grandpa" to our youngest pup, Houston. He was a chow/lab mix - his eyes glowed red & his teeth were bright white when the lights shined on him in the dark, lol. He will be missed by the 2- and 4-leggeds at our house.

Here's that little coony girl we applied to adopt back in February. We drove to Indiana the weekend after Presidents' Day to pick her up. Her name is Faith and she's really almost 4 yrs old. She'd been in foster care about 2 years! The foster guy really liked her but said he was very happy to see her get a 'forever family'. She's delightful! Looks like she's grinning every time she drops that lower jaw to pant. She's close to all of the dogs.

Here she and Fran are trying to decide what they'd more like to do - come in the house or go back to the gate & bark at something, lol.

Good to see you here, ditty!

This guy found my son last year. He's really a dog. We have to lock him up when we go for a walk or he'll come with us. His name is Jack, so I dub this picture, Jack in the Box.

"Jack in the Box" - I love it!

We had a cat who would go for walks with us. He'd lag about 3' behind, eyeing all the bushes. We thought of him as our "rear guard". This was out in a small, rural town with lots of growth along the road.

Some dogs are just too "cool" to bark. They are above such annoying nonsense. smile

Thanks for the compliment Barb. That is "Suzi" and she is the family Basenji. She is three, and like the breed she does not bark. Basenjis as you may know have a voice box, but only make sounds either when yodeling or whimpering. She does little of either, thus she is silent about 99% of the time.

She is a very sweet dog, but is dumb as a rock. I hope that doesn't sound rude, but she certainly isn't the brightest bulb in the K-9 world, that's for sure! We love her though, there is no denying that.
