You can find it from Google adwords.

Ranking at the top of google for the 3 main real estate keywords in a given area can be nearly priceless.

There is no concrete information about ranking in the top of Google. The search engine is constantly changing and big changes were made recently.

The day you think you "know it all" is when you will start to fall off. There are however some concrete steps that any site needs to take before even considering themselves as a contender in results. I would suggest reading the blogs at google.com/webmasters for information FROM google.

Sometimes the Google blog writes are too smart when they blog and it is confusing to read. I try to dull down the technical terminology when I write about SEO.

Does the html document declaration (line at the top) of the files make a difference in my rank?

Will the

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">

do any better than

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

?

No. All Google cares about is whether or not it can spider the page. It doesn't care whether the page is coded with html or xhtml and doesn't care if the code is valid.
Just advertise on Google Adword and your listing will be on top of the page!!!
Generally we advise clients against using google adwords as the cost vs reward is not the greatest. We do encourage clients to try and give out adwords coupons to new clients who are interested.

Organic rankings always beat the pants off resorting to cpc campaigns. CPC has always worked better when you have an actual product to sell that a person can be convinced to buy on the spot.

For a site to convert it need only have a good IDX search --- and nothing more.

Buyers only want access to listings.

Google Custom Forum Search

This Google Custom search may do a better job of searching the forums for some keywords than the old forum search does. The results do not include threads from the Asset Managers Forum however. To search that forum you will need to be actually in the Asset Managers Forum and you will need to use the old forum search below.
